NAFSAINT graduates 57 Air Intelligence Officers in Makurdi

Makurdi, November 23, 2023 (NAN): The Nigeria Air Force School of Air Intelligence (NAFSAINT) Makurdi graduated on Thursday 57 Air Intelligence personnel trained to tackle evolving contemporary security challenges in the country.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony, the commandant of the school, Group Capt. Adolphus Akins, said the 57 participants undertook courses in basic intelligence, intelligence supervision, and document security.

He explained that the basic intelligence officers course “is a 17- week course designed for entry- level intelligence officers and aimed at developing officers on the rudiment of intelligence process, problem solving, tradecraft, joint operation and national security.

“The intelligence supervisors course is a 9-week course designed to broaden the knowledge of intelligence statecraft of airmen and airwomen.

“The document security course is also a 9 -week course designed to sharpen the security consciousness of intelligence operations and administrative clerks.”

Akins said out of the 57 participants, 13 belonged to the officers cadre while the remaining 44 were airmen and airwomen.

The Commandant said the courses were designed to improve students knowledge and skills in intelligence gathering, applications of the intelligence process and document security.

He further explained that the courses were conducted in five phases; General studies, Security, Counter Intelligence, Intelligence Analysis and Technical Intelligence phases.

The Commandant  said all the participants met all the requirements for graduation and  urged them to be good ambassadors of the school in their areas of deployment.

He described intelligence as the backbone that sustains the effective functions of any country.

In his remarks, Chief of Staff Tactical Air Command (TAC) Air Cdr. Chukwuemeka Ashiegbu said the courses were cardinal to the school’s prime goal of producing highly trained and professional manpower capable of providing viable intelligence to meet contemporary security challenges.

According to him, the evolving nature of security challenges facing the country calls for new ideas in tackling those threats.

He,therefore, enjoined all course graduands to avail themselves of the internet to update and improve on their skills to remain relevant.

He expressed optimism that the training had prepared them for their future assignment.
