A group under the aegis of Concerned Staff of National Assembly, whose appointments have not been regularized by the National Assembly Commission, NASC, since 2018, has issued a 7-day ultimatum to the Commission to absorb them into the system.

The group in a peaceful protest at the National Assembly said it has almost 75% of the required documentation and yet have not resumed duty.

In a memorandum it submitted to the leadership of the NASC, the aggrieved group demanded among others, full implementation of the NASC ad-hoc committee report on the 2018 recruitment, the immediate documentation of all Medical Doctors/workers (formerly Locum) because of the overwhelming gaps in the Clinic and offering essential services to the NASS populace.

Reacting, the National Assembly Service Commission Commissioner Northeast, Bilaminu Yusuf Shinkafi, said that the affected persons were employed under the leadership of the 8th assembly and the 9th Assembly upon resumption embarked on another recruitment which led to the clash.

Yusuf, however, assured talks are ongoing with the management of the commission to ensure an amicable resolution.
