Lagos, Oct. 29, 2025 (NAN) New Horizons Nigeria, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) training and certification organisation, has been named the Best ICT Training Certification Organisation in Africa.

Its Managing Director, Mr Timothy Akano, told newsmen in Lagos on Wednesday that the award was the company’s 307th national, continental, and international accolade.

Akano expressed profound gratitude to CompTIA, saying that the award represented not just a celebration of past accomplishments but also a renewed call to serve.

He reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to addressing technology skills gaps, particularly in underserved communities.

According to him, the company is recognised for its excellence in bridging the digital divide between Africa and the rest of the world over the last two decades.

“This award solidifies our position as Africa’s most awarded ICT technical training company.

“The organisation trains and certifies over 100,000 students annually across Nigerian universities and high schools.

“In a drive to promote inclusive learning and remove financial barriers, the company provides annual scholarships ranging from 50 per cent to 100 per cent to more than 20,000 students,” Akano said.

He added that the organisation had a special focus on members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

According to him, in a recent notable Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative, New Horizons Nigeria adopted the Federal School of the Blind in Oshodi, Lagos.

The managing director said that it equipped the school’s computer laboratory with essential tools and provided a certified trainer for the visually impaired students.

He said that the trainer’s salary was borne by New Horizons and it also offered 100 per cent scholarships to approximately 100 visually impaired students.

According to Akano, this initiative aims to equip them with ICT skills for financial independence.

He added that, similarly between 2023 and 2025, the organisation awarded 100 per cent scholarships to over 1,000 students of Obafemi Awolowo University to study Artificial Intelligence and Digital Marketing.

Mr. Jason Moss, CompTIA’s Senior Vice President for EMEA, commended New Horizons for meeting and exceeding expectations in sales and services.

Moss said that the CompTIA certification portfolio included globally popular credentials such as Security+ (S+), Hardware (A+), and Network+ (N+).

He said that CompTIA, a globally recognised vendor-neutral Information Technology certification body, selected New Horizons Nigeria based on key performance indicators.

Moss said the key indicators included revenue generated, quality of training and certification delivery, and overall student satisfaction rating. (NAN)
