Nigeria Police promotes Lamorde, 52 others
Former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFFC) Ibrahim Lamorde, is among 53 senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) slated for promotion to the next ranks this week.
Impeccable sources close to the Police Service Commission (PSC) informed News Express over the weekend that Lamorde, an alumnus of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and current head of the Force Intelligence Bureau, is one of two Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) billed to be promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG).
“Four Commissioners of Police (CPs) will be promoted to the rank of AIG while 12 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) will be promoted to CPs and at least 35 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to DCPs,” one of the sources disclosed.
The signal, according to him, was sent out last week by the force secretary to all affected officers to submit their appraisal forms latest by Monday.”
The source revealed that the promotions are expected to be approved tomorrow, Tuesday, June 16, 2020, during the 8th plenary session of the commission “which was supposed to hold on Wednesday or Thursday last week but was postponed due to logistics reasons.”
He said that the session will be virtual, in view of the raging coronavirus pandemic and will be coordinated from Lagos by the commission’s chairman, IGP Muslim Smith (Rtd.), while PSC Commissioners elsewhere in the country will be linked electronically.
