Ramadan: Rep. Maipalace distributes food items to 8,500 constituents

Rep. Kabiru Maipalace (PDP-Zamfara) on Tuesday commenced the distribution of food items to 8,500 people in his constituency to support them during the month of Ramadan.

Maipalace, represented at the event by his Legislative Secretary, Mr. Mustafa Hassan, flagged off the distribution in Gusau.

He said the aim was to assist the less privileged persons in the holy month as required of privileged Muslims.

The lawmaker, who represents Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, also said the food items would help cushion the effects of the current economic hardship in his constituency.

“This is one of my annual projects; every blessed month of Ramadan, I provide relief assistance to the people, especially the less privileged.

“A total of 8,500 persons, drawn from the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), people with special needs, orphans, politicians, youths and women groups, Islamic scholars, and other vulnerable persons, would benefit,”  Maipalace said.

He said that each beneficiary would receive one 50-kg bag of rice, one carton of spaghetti, one carton of noodles, one carton of milk, and one gallon of cooking oil.

The lawmaker called on other privileged Nigerians to extend hands of assistance to the needy, especially with the present hardship in the country.

The federal lawmaker expressed hope that things would soon get better.

Maipalace also urged the beneficiaries to use this month of Ramadan to pray for lasting peace and an end to the security challenges facing the state and other parts of the country.

Malam Bala Mailemu and Hajiya Rabi Babawo, both beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for the gesture and prayed God to reward him for impacting them (NAN)
