Warsaw, Sept. 10, 2025 (dpa/NAN) A leading Russian diplomat in Warsaw has rejected Poland’s accusations that Russian drones violated Polish airspace.

Prime Minister Donald Tusk said there were at least 19 violations over several hours and the drones came direct from Belarus and did not mistakenly fly over the border with Ukraine.

The EU also says there are indications the act was intentional.

“We consider the allegations baseless. No evidence has been presented to prove that these drones are of Russian origin,” said Andrei Ordash.

Ordash is the chargé d’affaires at the Russian embassy in Warsaw, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

He said that a similar accusation in the past had ultimately proven to be false.

At the end of 2022, two people were killed in Poland near the Ukrainian border when a missile struck.

At the time, Russia had launched a major airstrike on western Ukraine.

The object that crashed in Poland was ultimately thought to be a stray Ukrainian air-defence missile.

Russia is absolutely not interested in escalating relations with Poland, the diplomat said.

Unfortunately, he added, this is being ignored by the Polish government due to “anti-Russian sentiment.”

Russia had been waging a full-scale war against neighbouring Ukraine since February 2022.

Ukraine also shares a border with Poland. (dpa/NAN)
