A 38-year-old South Korean fugitive wanted for distributing pornography in his country has been arrested in the Philippines, the Immigration Bureau said on Wednesday.
The suspect, Jung Yonggu, was arrested in the central city of Cebu last week after a one-month hunt for him, said Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente.
Jung was accused of working with a Korean convict in distributing over 7,400 obscene videos via internet file sharing websites, said Rendel Sy, head of the Immigration Bureau’s fugitive search unit.
A court in Seoul ordered his arrest in November 2018 for promoting and circulating pornography, but he had already fled to the Philippines four months earlier, Sy added.
His passport was cancelled by the Korean government, making him an undocumented alien subject for deportation, Morente said. (dpa/NAN)
