Makurdi, December 4, 2023: The 10th Benue State House Assembly has suspended four of its members for a three-month period. The suspension follows their alleged interference, causing disruptions in the smooth functioning of legislative affairs during Monday’s session.
The suspended members are Honourable Solomon Gyila, representing Gwer West State Constituency; Honorable Douglass Akya, a member representing Makurdi South; Rt. Honorable Dyako Ashwa, a member representing Konshisha State Constituency; and Honorable Anthony Agom of Okpokwu State Constituency.
The motion for their suspension was initiated by the Majority Leader of the House, Honourable Saater Tiseer, and was seconded by Honourable Peter Ipusu of Katsina-Alaa West State Constituency.
The assembly, in response to the disruption caused by the suspended members, has adjourned its session to tomorrow, December 5, 2023. The resumption is aimed at addressing the situation and ensuring the return to normal legislative business. The move reflects the assembly’s commitment to maintaining order and efficiency in its proceedings.
