Two people: Ada Nwaebe, 31 and Sunday Udeme, 46 were on Thursday arraigned before a Mapo Grade A Customary Court in Ibadan for allegedly defrauding a financial institution to the tune of N2.58 million.
Nwaebe (F) and Udeme (M) however pleaded not guilty to the two count-charge of conspiracy and stealing instituted against them.
The court’s President, Mrs O.E. Owoseni, granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two reliable sureties in like sum.
Owoseni added that the sureties must be blood relatives, possess National Identification Number (NIN) and an Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) receipt.
She adjourned the case until June 26, for hearing.
The prosecuting counsel, Insp Ayodele Ayeni, had earlier informed the court that the duo committed the crime on March 27, at about 1.00 p.m. at Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Ayeni alleged that Nwaebe and Udeme fraudulently obtained the sum of N2.58 million from the complainant, Absolute Grace Investment Limited.
The offences, he said, contravene the provisions of Sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code cap 38 vol. ii law of Oyo State, 2000. (NAN)
