2 men docked over alleged theft of blocks worth N950,000

Two men, Michael Shobitan, 24 and Mohammed Ibrahim, 28, were on Monday arraigned before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly stealing building blocks worth N950,000.
The defendants, whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of stealing and conspiracy.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to charges.
The Prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendants and others still at large, committed the offences between June 19 and June 23, at about 9.00 p.m. at No.9 Adefarm, Iloye, Ota.
He alleged that the defendants and their accomplices, conspired to steal 1,320 blocks valued at N950,000, belonging to the complainant, Babatunde Samson.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 390 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety each in like sum.
She instructed that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
The case was adjourned until July 6, for further hearing. (NAN)
