Two men, Nweke Friday (18) and Sunday Chukwudi(25), were, on Friday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged breach of peace.
The defendants, of unknown addresses, are facing a charge of breach of peace.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on May 31 at about 02:00 p.m in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.
Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 181(1)(d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Busuyi Ayorinde, urged the court to grant his clients bail, promising that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case till July 2 for hearing.(NAN)
