2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (Matchday 10)

2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (Matchday 10): Kano Pillars v FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Kwara United v Rangers, Plateau United v Warri Wolves, Wikki Tourists v Abia Warriors, Lobi Stars v Katsina United, Dakkada FC v Akwa United, Rivers United v Sunshine Stars, MFM v Adamawa United, Nasarawa United v Heartland (all 4 pm)

Log leaders Plateau United picked a point in Enugu midweek and welcome Warri Wolves, who pipped Wikki Tourists 1-0 on the same day, to Jos in the quest for their sixth victory this season.

Only Kano Pillars, who played goallessly, have survived in Jos out of four home matches for Plateau United, while Wolves have drawn two and lost the remaining two matches in their travels.

Second-placed Dakkada FC is involved in a local derby with their “big brother” Akwa United.

Formerly Akwa Starlets, the newly-promoted side have surprised neutrals as they keep posting impressive results. In nine matches, they have acquitted themselves in four and shared honours in the same number of games, and only lost to wounded Kano Pillars by a lone goal in Uyo in a rescheduled Matchday 2 fixture.

Two points separate the top two sides, meaning that Dakkada FC will assume leadership if they beat struggling Akwa United and Plateau United fumble.

Lobi Stars, in third place, played 1-1 with Enyimba in Aba the last time out, while their guests this evening Katsina United settled for a goalless outcome with Dakkada FC in Katsina.

Lobi Stars are also looking up to moving up in the ladder. And that will be possible if they win and Dakkada fails.

Rangers are in a battle of the relegation teams in Ilorin as Kwara United hope to appease their fans who were disappointed with their defeat by Heartland in the first home match since acquiring Delta Force.

Victory for any of the sides may not be enough to lift them out of the danger zone though but it will improve their chances of survival.
