A former frontline PDP governorship aspirant, Mr Laja Adeoye, has joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and secured the party’s governorship nomination form ahead of the 2027 Lagos State election.
Adeoye became the first aspirant to formally obtain the APM governorship nomination form in Lagos as the party commenced the sale of forms for governorship, Senate, House of Representatives and Lagos State House of Assembly positions.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the APM Expression of Interest and Nomination Form was presented to Adeoye by the Lagos PDP-APM Alliance Chairman, Mr Amos Fawole.
Fawole described Adeoye’s emergence on the APM platform as the beginning of a political “Reset Movement” in Lagos ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
According to him, the APM is well positioned to take over governance in Lagos State in the next electoral cycle.
“This is the beginning of the Reset Movement in Lagos.
“We are determined to provide Lagos residents with an alternative platform that represents inclusiveness, fairness and people-oriented governance.
“The APM is not just participating in the election; we are preparing seriously to form the next government in Lagos State.
“The entrance of Laja Adeoye into our party is a major boost to our chances in 2027 because he represents competence, capacity and the desire for positive change,” Fawole said.
Speaking with journalists in Lagos, Adeoye said the lingering legal crisis within the PDP necessitated his decision to seek an alternative political platform.
According to him, the unresolved internal disputes within the PDP posed a major threat to his governorship ambition, causing distractions issue-based engagement with Lagos residents.
“The ongoing legal tussle in the PDP was capable of shutting me out of the 2027 race. It created unnecessary distractions and shifted our focus.
“I therefore took a strategic decision to move to the APM, a fresh and dynamic party that offers Lagosians a real opportunity for a reset.
“This movement is beyond politics. It is about rescuing Lagos and restoring confidence in governance through transparency, accountability and fairness,” Adeoye said.
The governorship hopeful said his political movement had now been fully aligned with the “Reset Nigeria” vision being championed by Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
He explained that his former “Better Lagos Agenda” campaign had been rebranded as the “Reset Lagos Movement”, code-named “Atunto Eko 1.0”.
Adeoye said: “Our campaign, previously known as the Better Lagos Agenda, has now been rebranded as the Reset Lagos Movement, code-named Atunto Eko 1.0.
“This is to align fully with the national Reset Nigeria vision being championed by Governor Seyi Makinde, who has continued to advocate reforms and a rebirth for Nigeria.
“The Atunto Eko movement represents our commitment to rebuilding Lagos, strengthening institutions, improving infrastructure, restoring security and creating opportunities for all residents irrespective of tribe or religion.*
Adeoye promised to deliver transparent, equitable and people-centred governance if elected governor in 2027.
He said Lagos residents deserved a leadership that would prioritise their welfare and ensure that governance worked effectively for all segments of society.
“Lagos people are yearning for a new leadership that will be transparent, fair to all and truly representative of their interests.
“I am ready to provide purposeful leadership that will reset governance and restore public confidence in government institutions.
“The APM is ready to make significant gains at both federal and state levels, including Lagos, Oyo and several other states of the federation. This is the beginning of a new era,” Adeoye said.
NAN reports that Gov. Seyi Makinde recently declared his presidential ambition during a rally at Mapo Hall in Ibadan, where he called for a “Hard Reset” and national rebirth ahead of the 2027 general elections.(NAN)
