Mr David-Kolawole Vaughan, a chieftain of the People’s Redemption Party, says the party is fast emerging as a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Vaughan, a former two-term National Ex-Officio member of the Peoples Democratic Party, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Lagos.
He said many people were showing interest in the party because of its ideology, principles and commitment to truthful leadership.
“We are building the PRP in Lagos and Nigeria to become a credible alternative for genuine aspirants in the 2027 general elections.
“The tenets and principles of this platform, set by its founding fathers like Mallam Aminu Kano and others, are still standing till today.
“This party has the oldest principles about how to unite the country and make life more abundant for the people,” Vaughan said.
According to him, the PRP remains different from many political parties because it was founded on a clear vision and ideology.
“Unlike some other parties, PRP was built on a solidly clear vision and ideology.
“The party has many respectable individuals who are not ready for political deceit and selfish interests.
“PRP has very bright chances because it has become the delight of many politicians and that is why some of us left PDP for the platform,” he said.
Vaughan said the party would not betray public trust if voted to govern Lagos.
“The future of this party is bright, certainly. it will not disappoint the people of Lagos, if elected.
“A lot of people are coming in and many are still at the door knocking to come in,” he said.
The PRP chieftain added that more politicians were preparing to join the party ahead of the 2027 polls.
He listed notable leaders in the party to include Attahiru Jega, a former National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission and Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 Vice Presidential Candidate of the Labour Part, among others.
Vaughan urged genuine aspirants seeking credible political platforms ahead of the 2027 general elections to join the PRP. (NAN)
