21-year-old faces trial for alleged midnight burglary and theft in Ikeja

Ikeja , March 27, 2026 (NAN) A 21-year-old man, Hassan Saliu on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court over alleged conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

Saliu is facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy to commit felony, burglary and theft.

The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ikhayere told the court that the defendant, alongside others still at large, committed the offences on Feb. 28, at about 2.25 a.m. at No. 97 Sobo Arobiodu St., GRA Ikeja.

He said the defendant allegedly conspired with others to commit stealing, contrary to Section 411 and punishable under Section 412 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The prosecutor further stated that the defendant broke into the store of one Ralph Shubert at night with the intent to commit a felony, contrary to Section 306 and punishable under Section 307 of the same law.

She added that the defendant stole items valued at N5 million, including seven boxes of inverter batteries, two flat-screen monitors, and two radio base sets, contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the law.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr Lateef Owolabi granted the defendant bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Owolabi adjourned the case until April 3,for further hearing.(NAN)
