Ado-Ekiti, Feb.16, 2026(NAN) The police on Monday, charged a man, his wife and daughter before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, over alleged assault.
The defendants are: Babatunde Awolusi, 45; Mary Awolusi, 42, and Oluwaseun Awolusi, 23.
The trio, who reside at Gloryland Avenue, Covenant Extension, Ado-Ekiti, are standing trial on a four-count charge bordering on assault and obstruction of duty.
The prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Feb.11, at about 10:00 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants assaulted one Precious Agunbiade and Kehinde Agunbiade, following a misunderstanding over land demarcation.
According to the prosecutor, in the process, the third defendant cut Kehinde with a razor blade on her back.
He alleged that the defendants also assaulted some police officers, ASP Taiwo Ogunleye, Insp. Adejoh Esther, and Insp. Omozuafo Juliet, and obstructed them from performing their lawful duties.
According to him, the offences contravene the provisions of section 184, 186, 187 and 187 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, refused the bail of the first and third defendants, and consequently, ordered their remand at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti.
The court, however, granted the second defendant bail on health grounds, in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Feb.20, for mention.(NAN)
