Three men, Sunday Ayegbusi, Adedeji Tunde, and Ilesanmi Olorunfemi were, on Monday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged stealing and receiving of stolen items valued N700,000.
Ayegbusi, 22, Tunde, 65 and Olorunfemi, 30 whose addresses were not given, are been charged with stealing and receiving of stolen properties, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, Insp Olubu Apata, told the court that the defendants committed the offence at about 9.00p.m on April 26 in Ado-Ekiti.
He said that Ayegbusi, a sales boy, stole milk and foodstuff valued N700,000 belonging to his principal, Ibrahim Olorunote.
Apata further said that Tunde and Olorunfemi dishonestly received the items from Ayegbusi, knowing that they were stolen.
He said that the offence contravened Section 302 and 343 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor prayed the court to grant him a short adjournment to enable him to study the case file, and assemble his witnesses.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Opeyemi Esan, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Taiwo Ajibade, granted admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until May 13 for hearing.(NAN)
