4 docked over alleged impersonation on social media

Ibadan, March 4, 2026 (NAN) Four persons, on Wednesday, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, over alleged impersonation on social media.

The four defendants are: Omotayo Ezekiel, 26, Favour Jire-Ige, 22, Abiodun Oluwasegun 23 and Godwin Akinbiyi, 26.

The defendants were arraigned on charges of conspiracy and impersonation, to which they pleaded not guilty.

The Prosecutor, Insp Kehinde Olarotimi told the court that the defendants committed the offences on March 3, at 10.00 a.m, at Ologuneru area of Ibadan.

He said that the defendants with the intent to defraud people, represented themselves to be caucasian ladies and men with foreign numbers, on Facebook, tiktok and Gmail.

Olarotimi said that the offences contravened Sections 484 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each and two sureties each in like sum.

She held that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to each of the defendants and adjourned the case until April 13, for hearing. (NAN)
