Ibadan, Oct. 27, 2025 (NAN) Four men, on Monday, appeared before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, over alleged internet fraud and impersonation on Facebook .
The defendants: Oguntayo Ibrahim, 25, Najeemdeen Nurudeen, 30, Teslim Adekunle, 29, and Abiodun Fasasi of Elebu area, Ibadan, were charged on four- count of fraud, which they all pleaded not guilty to.
The prosecuting counsel, Insp Sikiru Opaleye told the court that Oguntayo with intent to defraud falsely represented himself to be Vagos Royale, Thomas Bodell, Ashley Doherty , Bill Jersey and Helen May on Facebook.
Opaleye alleged that the defendant called himself a white lady living in America, which he knew to be false.
He said the second defendant with intent to defraud allegedly falsely represents himself on Facebook as Mary J. Blige, Sandra Bullock and Shanian Twain, American celebrities living in the USA, which he knew to be false
Opaleye alleged that Teslim and Fasasi also represented themselves to be white ladies living in the United States of America with false names on Facebook, which they knew to be false
The offences, the prosecutor said, were allegedly committed on Oct. 24, at about 9:30 a.m. at Elebu area, Ibadan.
Opaleye said that the offences contravened Section 484 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Defence Counsel, Mr David Adesanya, applied for bail of the four defendants on liberal terms .
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N500, 000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Ogunkanmi said one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendants.
She , thereafter, adjourned the matter until Jan. 20, 2026, for hearing.(NAN)
