8 men arraigned  over alleged breach of peace, threat to life

Badagry (Lagos State) March 26, 2026 (NAN) The Police on Thursday, charged eight men before  a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged breach of peace and threat to life.
The defendants- Akinyemi Daniel, 20; Padonu Oluwaseun, 21; Monday Faseun, 22; Olaosebikan Ademola, 44; David Awajienu, 50; Clod Pobiri, 30; Padonu Ezekiel, 19; and Ogolo Mikel, 17.
The defendants whose addresses were not stated are standing trial on charges bordering on breach of peace and threat to life.
They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP. Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 2, at about 12.40.p.m. at Sunshine Hotel in Magbon, Lagos.
Ekpo alleged that the defendants conspired to cause a breach of peace, by scaring guests at the hotel with battle axe,  causing them  to run away.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants  damaged tables valued N370,000 belonging to the hotel
He alleged that the defendants also threatened the life of one Israel Abola and a guest of the hotel, with battle axe.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections  56, 168, 350 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each with two sureties each  in like sum.
He held that one of the sureties must be a company director or a community leader.
The court  adjourned the case until April 22, for mention. (NAN)
