A Magistrates’ Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, has remanded two men, Bashir Yakubu and Ja’afaru Ado in a correctional facility after they pleaded guilty to being ‘pick pockets’.

The Magistrate, Michael Bawa, however reserved sentence until May 15.
Yakubu and Ado were charged by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC) with conspiracy and theft, contrary to sections 59 and 271 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
The prosecutor, Marcus Audu, told the court that Amos Oganto, the complainant, reported the matter at the Corp’s office in Kafanchan on April 24.
Audu said the complainant had just boarded a commercial vehicle from Kafanchan to Gidan Waya when the driver saw the defendants who were already inside the car removing the sum of N20, 000 from the complainant’s pocket and quickly raised the alarm.
When the charges were read to them, they pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency. (NAN)
