Drug trafficking: Man to know fate Oct. 11 following change in plea

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday adjourned until Oct. 11 for a review of factsand sentencing, following a change of plea from not guilty, entered by  27-year-old man, Ismaila Tobi for drug trafficking.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) charged  the defendant with drug trafficking.

He was first arraigned before the court some months ago, and had pleaded not guilty to the charge.

However, as trial was about to begin, the defendant changed his plea to guilty before Justice Akintayo Aluko.

Following his plea, the prosecutor, Mrs J O Negedu, urged the court to give a date for review of the facts.

According to the charge, the defendant was said to have committed the offence on Jan. 14, 2019 at the Iba, Ojo area of Lagos.

He was said to have illegally engaged in the sale of hemp weighing 3.1kg.

The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of section 11 (c) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Law of the Federation, 2004. (NAN)
