The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Danladi Jatau, has cautioned his kinsmen and other citizens of the state against joining the planned nationwide August 1 protests over hunger in the land.
This, the speaker said, can lead to violence and anarchy in the country.
He gave the advice while playing host to his kinsmen, Ikka/ Wangibi community, Nasarawa State, alongside the Deputy Majority Leader of the house, Mr Abel Bala on Tuesday in Lafia.
The speaker said, ”From available records, protests lead to violence in the country, hence the need for my call for the people to shun protests at all times.
” First, I want to thank you and God for this wonderful visit for my own parents and brothers to identify with me on my emergence as the Speaker of the 7th assembly.
” Leadership comes from God. I want to thank my Honourable colleagues here and other Honourable members for their continued support to me to succeed.
“What the government needs is your support and prayers to succeed.”
The speaker urged the people of Ikka/ Wangibi and others not to join the protests, adding that what the country need at the moment was people’s support and prayers.
” There are people who did not wish President Bola Tinubu and Gov. Abdullahi Sule administrations well.
” Please speak to your people not to join the protests as most protests lead to anarchy and violence in the country,” he said.
On his part, Bala, said that the entire members of the house were proud of the speaker’s leadership style.
He assured the people of their commitment not to fail them while discharging their duties.
Bala said that they have provided jobs, empowerment, initiated different projects and policies in their constituencies to improve on the standard of living of their people
Also speaking, the District Head of Ikka/ Wangibi, Chief Maga Ajegena, urged the lawamkers to continue to provide an all-inclusive leadership to the people of the state.
The District Head, however, appealed for more jobs and empowerment of their people.
He also appealed for the construction of roads in Ikka/Wangibi community and its environs.
Earlier, Mr Ezekiel Anzaku, the Chairman of Eggon Cultural and Development Association ( ECDA) said that the visit was to congratulate Jatau on his emergence as the sSpeaker and Bala as deputy majority leader.
In a related development, the Bokoko Community, Kokona LGA led by Mr Tela Tsaku and Hosea Abimiku, the Village Head of the Bokoko community have visited Jatau.
They said the visit was to appreciate the speaker for sinking a motorised borehole in the Bokoko community to tackle water scarcity in the area.
He also appreciated the speaker for his efforts in developing Kokona West constituency.
The community leader, however, appealed for the provision of jobs and empowerment to the youths and an upgrade of their clinic. (NAN)
