Abuja, July 29, 2025 (NAN) The Federal Capital Territory Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board (FCT-CPWB) has screened 250 intending pilgrims to Israel and Jordan.
The FCT-CPWB Director, Mrs Gloria Dandam, said during the event in Abuja on Tuesday, that the exercise was to get the intending pilgrims prepared for the pilgrimage scheduled for between August and September.
She explained that a first batch of 140 intending pilgrims, mainly private sponsors, had been screened, adding that 110 others would be screened to conclude the exercise.
Dandam said that the exercise, being handled in collaboration with the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) would determine the legibility of those who have applied for the holy pilgrimage.
She noted that before any of the intending pilgrims would be allowed to pay for the cost of the trip, they must pass through all the screening processes.
This, according to her, will ensure total compliance with the extant rules and regulations.
She disclosed that a pre-visit to Israel by officials of the board had shown some level of peace and assured the intending pilgrims of safety and security.
The director, however, said that only sites within the safe zones would be visited.
”We need to conclude the screening today, so that we forward our list to the NCPC for visa issuance.
”After the exercise, those recommended for the trip will be contacted via text messages to pay their fees so that we can conclude and send all the money to the NCPC,” she said. (NAN)
