Abuja, Aug. 28, 2025 (NAN) A 31-year-old labourer, Likita Emmanuel, was on Thursday arraigned in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing eight segments of iron fence.

Emmanuel, who resides in Angwan Rofio second village, Idu Abuja, was charged with criminal trespass, mischief and theft.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against him

The prosecutor, Mrs Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that the complainant, Mr Sambo Ilyasu of Coo Institution and Research District Rurico Polo, Abuja, on Aug. 4 reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station.

Nwachukwu alleged that the defendant on Aug. 3 intentionally trespassed into the complainant’s Polo Field, without the consent of the management.

“The defendant dishonestly vandalised and made away with the complainant’s eight segments of iron fence value yet unknown.

“The complainant later apprehended the defendant and handed him over to the police for investigation,” she alleged.

Nwachukwu told the court that during police investigation, five segments of the stolen iron fence were recovered from the defendant but that all efforts made to recover the others proved abortive.

She said the defendant, also during investigation, could not give a satisfactory account of himself.

The offence, she said, contravened the provisions of Sections 348, 338 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The Chief Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with one surety in like sum.

Jobbo ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until Oct. 6 for hearing. (NAN)
