Bere preaches peace, unity among Plateau residents

Chugwi (Plateau), Oct. 27, 2025 (NAN) Dr Gyang Bere, the Director of Press and Public Affairs (DOPPA) to Gov. Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, has called on residents of the state to embrace peace and unity at all times.

 

Bere made the call on Monday during the inauguration of the newly elected officials of Dandyes Community Development Association (DCDA) of Chugwi, Vwang District of Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

 

The DOPPA, who was the Guest Speaker at the event, spoke on the topic “The Nigerian Community and the Quest for National Cohesion: Challenges and the Road Ahead”.

 

Bere, an indigene of the community, advised the people to embrace their diversity towards promoting peaceful coexistence and harmony.

 

He further urged them to shun division, segregation and work towards a more united society.

 

“Our diversity should be a source of strength and not division. We can only forge ahead if we are united

 

“Let’s continue to build bridges of friendship and love with our neighbours; we must also operate within the confines of the law.

 

“Our utterances must be one that promote peace; unity is our strength, so, we must guide it jealously.

 

“For us in Dandyes, this message rings even louder; we must continue to build bridges of friendship, peace, and understanding with our neighbours,”he advised.

 

The governor’s aide described Dandyes community as a blessed land, with rich agriculture, artisanal and craftsmanship of different kinds.

 

He particularly called on young people in the state to use the social media in building rather than destroy the society.

 

“Use the social media responsibly, by so doing, we can develop and grow our communities.

 

“Be useful to yourselves, parents and the community in general”,Bere advised the youths.

 

Earlier, the Village Head of Chugwi, Da Atyos Mandung, also urged the new officials to unite the people.

 

He promised to support them to effectively and diligently discharge their duties.

 

Speaking on behalf of the new officials, Da Pam Mangai, Chairman of the association, promised to run an all-inclusive system.

 

He also promised to be transparent and initiate programmes that would further unite the people of the community.(NAN)
