Ibadan, Jan. 21, 2026 (NAN) The police on Wednesday charged a 25-year-old man, Mololuwa Taiwo, before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, over alleged reckless driving.
Taiwo, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on reckless driving.
He, however pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Nov.30, 2025, at about 5.00 p.m., around the University of Ibadan area.
He alleged that Taiwo, being a driver of a Mazda jeep, had driven recklessly, without regards for other road users.
He alleged that the reckless driving caused accident and led to the damage of one Toyota Belta 2024 model, worth N45 million, belonging to a complainant, one Mr Victor Olojede.
He said that the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 4(1), 18 and 135 of the Road Traffic Act Law of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one million naira, with two sureties in like sum.
Osho held that one of the sureties must be a relation of the defendant.
The court adjourned the case until March 12, for hearing. (NAN)
