2 business women docked for disturbing public peace

Kaduna, Jan.21 2026(NAN) Two business women, Murjanatu Muhammad and Zainab Aliyu, on Wednesday appeared before a Shari’a Court in Magajin Gari, Kaduna for allegedly disturbing public peace and causing hurt.

 

The Prosecutor, Ahmad Ishaku, told the court that the police received the information that the accused, who are residents of Kabala Costain, engaged in a verbal exchange of insult, a situation that led to physical combat.

 

“During the fight, the second accused hit the first accused on her left eye, causing her injury.

 

“The police at Sabon Gari division intervened to resolve the matter in which the second defendant gave the first defendant N5, 500 to treat herself,” he said.

 

Ishaku added that the women were advised to go and maintain peace.

 

In their defence, the first defendant pleaded guilty on the offence bordering on public disturbance while the second denied liability saying there was no fight.

 

The Judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, granted bail to the two accused on the condition that they provide a reliable surety.

 

He adjourned the matter to Feb. 26 for the prosecutor to present witnesses.(NAN)
