Lagos, Jan. 21, 2026 (NAN) The Nigerian Software Testing Qualifications Board (NGSTQB) has elected Tajudeen Onikoyi as its new President, following a leadership change aimed at improving software testing standards and professional practice in Nigeria.
The board said this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.
According to NGSTQB, the election process involved open discussions and a voting exercise by members of the board.
The board noted that at the end of the process, Onikoyi emerged as the new president and was given the responsibility to lead NGSTQB into its next stage of growth, innovation and stronger ties with international partners.
Speaking after his election, Onikoyi thanked the board for the trust placed in him and restated his commitment to the goals of NGSTQB.
He said: “I am honoured by this responsibility. Building on the strong foundation laid by my predecessor, my focus will be on improving professional standards, expanding training and skills development.
“I will also be working closely with the software industry and positioning Nigeria as an important contributor to global software testing.”
Onikoyi also stressed the need for innovation, inclusion and continuous learning as technology continued to change, adding that NGSTQB would keep promoting quality assurance as a key part of building reliable and trusted digital systems.
The board said the election of Onikoyi marked a new phase for NGSTQB and its effort to raise software testing standards, strengthen industry partnerships and increase influence within and outside Nigeria.
It also acknowledged the contributions of the outgoing President, Mr Boye Dare, noting that the transition reflected both continuity and renewal in NGSTQB’s leadership.
It said that Dare played a key role in promoting software testing standards and professional certification in Nigeria in line with international best practices.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the NGSTQB mission is to generate public awareness of the economic and risk management benefits that professional software testing practices offer.
It enables its customers to develop their careers in line with trending industry demands.
In conjunction with the ISTQB, the NGSTQB is responsible for providing a consistent trusted accreditation system for the education and training of professional testers.
The board also develops, adopts and contributes to standards for software testing, training course development, and professional qualification. (NAN)
