Ibadan, Jan. 23, 2026 (NAN) A 64-year-old woman, Olusola Adeyemo, on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly slapping a road traffic officer while on duty.
Adeyemo, whose address was not provided, was charged with unlawful assault, to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence on Jan. 20 at about 3.25 p.m. at the Eleyele area of Ibadan.
Owolabi alleged that Adeyemo slapped one Samuel Agboola, a member of the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority (OYRTMA), while he was performing his lawful duties.
He said the defendant allegedly harassed the officer, claiming that he was unnecessarily stopping commercial tricycles in the area.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 356(5) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Gladys Olanrewaju, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until March 2 for hearing. (NAN)
