Ikeja, Jan.23, 2026(NAN)The police on Friday, charged a 39-year-old man, Ibrahim Lawal, before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged malicious damage to a vehicle.
The defendant was alleged to have damaged a Honda Civic car, worth N4.5 million.
Lawal, whose address was not disclosed, is standing trial on a one-count charge of malicious damage.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, SPJosephine Ikhayere, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on March 30, 2024, at about 1:10 p.m. at Mangoro Mechanic Workshop in Agege, Lagos.
She alleged that the defendant maliciously damaged a Honda Civic 2001 model belonging to one Mr Mansuru Musa, a complainant.
The vehicle is valued at N4.5 million.
The prosecution alleged that the defendant disappeared after commiting the offence, but eventually resurfaced.
She said that he was consequently, arrested by the police.
The offence contravenes the provisions of section 350 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr L.A Lawal, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The court held that the sureties must be responsible residents within the court’s jurisdiction, and must provide evidence of tax payment.
He adjourned the case until Jan. 29, for trial. (NAN)
