Police arraign 2 businessmen over alleged theft of machines

Lagos, Jan. 28, 2026 (NAN) The police on Wednesday, charged two businessmen, Saheed Adeniyi and Olarewaju Suliimon, before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged stealing.

 

 

 

Adeniyi, 44, and Suliimon, 45, are standing trial before the Magistrate, Mr Lateef Layeni, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

 

 

 

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

 

 

 

The prosecutor, ASP Simon Uche, told the court that the defendants allegedly committed the offence in January, at a company, E & C logistics located at Sabo in Ajangbadi.

 

 

 

Uche alleged that the defendants conspired to steal two electric motor machines belonging to the company.

 

 

 

According to the prosecutor, the defendants allegedly moved the machines to undisclosed destination, without the consent of the owner.

 

 

 

The prosecutor said that the machines were valued at N420,000.

 

 

 

According to the prosecutor, the defendants were eventually arrested following police investigations.

 

 

 

The offences, he said, contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

 

 

Layeni granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

 

 

 

He adjourned the case until Feb. 16, for mention. (NAN)
