Badagry (Lagos State)Jan.28, 2026 (NAN)The police on Wednesday arraigned a 37-year-old man, Folabi Yusuf, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged assault and threat to life.
The defendant, whose address was not given, is being charged with assault, threat to kill and breach of peace.
H, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP. Edet Ekpo told the Court that the defendant committed the offences on Dec.21, 2025, at about 5.00.p.m, at Community Base, Golden Estate, Mowo Bus stop, Badagry, Lagos.
Ekpo alleged that the defendant assaulted one Balogun Jamiu, the complainant, by chasing him with cutlass and threatening to cut him to pieces.
“The defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by using charm to threaten the complainant during community development association meeting in the area.
“The defendant threatened to cut the complainant into pieces with a cutlass.
“The defendant was arrested and handed over to Police for prosecution.
“The offences contravened Sections 406, 57 and 168 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos, 2015,” he said.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum N1,000,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties must be a community leader, and adjourned the case until Feb.4, for mention. (NAN)
