Abuja, Jan. 28, 2026 (NAN) No fewer than 3,000 participants are expected to feature in the seventh national Under 17 Cricket championship sponsored by Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC).

Musa Ehizoje, Tournament Director, said the competition, which is in collaboration with the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), would witness an increased number of participation compared to the previous years.

Ehizoje told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Wednesday that all the states have indicated interest in the participation except Nasarawa, at the time of this report.

He noted that the competition has grown to become the biggest age-grade tournament in Nigeria and West Africa.

“The last six editions witnessed a significant expansion.

“We have moved from 19 states participating in the first edition to 35 states, indicating an interest in the seventh edition.

“Only Nasarawa is yet to state their interest, although we are hopeful that before the deadline of player registration they would have made a positive response,” he said.

The director said that letters have been sent to states to register their players for the event.

“We are expecting over 3,000 to feature in this edition.

“The zonal qualification for the six geo-political zones is scheduled for a window period of between Feb. 10 to Feb. 23.

“Each zone will be hosted by one state.

“The host state will provide a hostel facility and two playing pitches for the qualification while the finals of the event will be in March in Abuja,” Ehizoje said. (NAN)
