Lagos. Feb. 27, 2026 (NAN) A 32-year-old tiller, Samuel Egwu, was on Friday arraigned in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Ojota, Lagos, for alleged N240,000 fraud.
Egwu, who resides in Ajah area of Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 7 at 10.30 a.m. at No. 32, Palace Road, Ogudu.
Bassey said that the defendant collected the N240,000 from the complainant, Mrs Unyime Enyiema, for a tiling job, but failed to execute it.
He said that the defendant converted the money to his personal use.
“All efforts made by the complainant to retrieve her money or get the defendant to do the job failed,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mrs O.A Daodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until March 9 for mention. (NAN)
