Lagos, Feb. 27, 2026 (NAN) The police on Friday arraigned three men, Segun Adelani, Sarafa Adelani and Adeyinka Ayelabegon, before an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly assaulting a man and stealing his N70,000.
The defendants, Adelani, 27; Sarafa, 56; and Ayelabegon, 26, all residents of Ojota, Lagos, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, assault occasioning harm, stealing and receiving stolen property.
The prosecutor, ASP Sunday Bassey, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 1 at about 2.00 p.m. at No. 53, Olatunji St., Ojota.
He alleged that the defendants unlawfully assaulted one Martins Nwoke by punching him in the eye and other parts of his body, resulting in partial blindness.
According to the prosecutor, the defendants stole N55,000 and N15,000, totaling N70,000, belonging to the complainant.
He also alleged that the third defendant, Ayelabegon, received and retained the said sum in his Opay account.
The offences contravene Sections 411, 245, 287 and 328 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate Mrs O.A. Daodu granted them bail in the sum of N100,000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
The case was adjourned until March 10 for further hearing and referred for further investigation. (NAN)
