Osogbo, Feb. 27, 2026 (NAN) A civil society group, The Osun Mastermind, has commended President Bola Tinubu over the appointment of Mr Tunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP).
The group’s Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, made the commendation during its 2026 February State of the State address on Friday in Osogbo.
Oyedokun-Alli said the group was elated that the president responded to repeated calls by Nigerians for a change in leadership of the Nigeria Police Force, noting that it remained cautiously optimistic about the new development.
According to him, the new IGP must ensure that his tenure ushers in a new era of professionalism, respect for law and order and strict discipline among officers and men of the force.
He added that “Disu has the enormous responsibility of repositioning the force.
“We pray for the success of the new IGP and reaffirm our commitment to supporting reforms aimed at strengthening security and the rule of law in the country.
“Nigerians desire a police that is trustworthy, reliable and worthy of public pride.”
Oyedokun-Alli, however, urged the new police chief to fulfil his pledge made during his first engagement with the media. (NAN)
