Ikorodu, March 13, 2026 (NAN) The wife of the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government Council, Mrs Kadijat Ladega, has tasked mothers on parental guidance in order to raise children that will contribute to the nation’s building.

Ladega made the call during a combined breaking of fast with Muslim and Christian women at the council secretariat in Ikorodu, Lagos State.

She charged women to be intentional about parenting in order to raise responsible children that would contribute positively to the country’s growth and development.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the programme was facilitated through the Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation department of the council.

The programme provided a platform for prayers, reflection, and fellowship among women across the local government area.

She said the programme was designed to foster unity, empathy, and peaceful coexistence among women, particularly during seasons that highlight sacrifice, charity, and spiritual renewal.

Ladega said strengthening families and empowering women remain critical pillars in building resilient communities and advancing national development.

“The initiative forms part of Ladega-led administration’s continued efforts to promote social harmony, women’s inclusion, and community-based engagement.

“It will also strengthen relationships among residents of Ikorodu, while complementing the broader national vision of the Renewed Hope,” she said.

She added that the gathering featured a Lenten reflection and prayers for Christian participants, while also acknowledging the significance of the Ramadan fast being observed by Muslim faithful during the ongoing sacred month.

She disclosed that over 500 beneficiaries received food palliatives, further demonstrating the administration’s commitment to social welfare in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

In her reaction, Princess Busola Isikalu, Iyaloja of Ikorodu, lauded the wife of the chairman for the initiative.

Isikalu said the season has united both Muslim and Christian in the country.

She also stressed the need for unity and love in order to make Nigeria great.

Present at the event were Babawale Alogba, the council’s Vice Chairman, members of the council legislative arm, wives of political officeholders, Community Development Committee representatives, political leaders, and religious leaders.

NAN reports that the gathering featured a Lenten reflection and prayers for Christian participants, while also acknowledging the significance of Ramadan being observed by Muslim faithful. (NAN)
