A 30-year-old company worker, Olasunkanmi Ayeni, on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly stealing N620,000 from his employer.
Ayeni, a staff member of Mamuda Company, Eleyele, Ibadan, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp Elisha Tellang, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences in April at the company premises in Ibadan.
Tellang alleged that Ayeni obtained N620,000 from the company under the pretext of remitting the money but failed to do so.
He alleged that the defendant converted the money to his personal use.
According to him, the offences contravene Sections 419 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwaferanmi Raji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Raji adjourned the case until Aug. 20 for mention. (NAN).
