The Igbo Community in Plateau has promised to support the re-election bid of Gov. Caleb Mutfwang in 2027.

Igbo leaders across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state unanimously made the promise when they visited the governor on Saturday in Jos.

Speaking, Chief Chidi Onah, the President-General of Ndigbo in Plateau, reaffirmed the community’s unwavering support for the Mutfwang administration.

He commended the governor’s inclusive leadership, people-centred policies, and steadfast commitment to fostering peace, unity and equitable development across

On his part, Chief Mike Okoronkwo, the immediate past president-general of the Igbo community, commended the governor’s developmental strides in the state.

Okoronkwo, who said that the Igbo community would support Mutfwang’s re-election bid, thanked him for appointing Igbo sons and daughters into his government at various levels.

“Sir, we are here to thank you for all your good works on the Plateau; your developmental strides are visible and Plateau is becoming a safe haven.

“Currently, our people are occupying eight positions in Jos North LGA alone.

“So, whether you are climbing the highest mountain or descending from the valley, we will stand with you at all times,” he said.

The erstwhile president-general insisted that the Igbo community would go after candidates and not political party, hence the decision to support Mutfwang in 2027.

Also speaking, Mr Eze EKweme, a legal practitioner and one of the Igbo elders in the state, said that the governor’s good plans and big dreams for Plateau would soon manifest.

He said that the policies and programmes initiated by the Mutfwang’s administration had direct impact on the lives of the Igbos living on the Plateau.

“Just before we came here, the governor met with businessmen and manufacturers in the state; he shared beautiful policies and plans for Plateau.

“Sir, the people you see here are the stakeholders of Ndigbo in Plateau.

“By God’s grace, we will give you 1.6 million votes in the next election across the 17 LGAs of Plateau,”Ekweme said.

Responding, Mutfwang thanked the Igbo elders for the visit.

“I thank you for the commitment to support us in 2027.

“We will continue to solicit for your support and prayers to succeed,’ he said.
