Ikorodu (Lagos State), April 9, 2026 (NAN) The police in Lagos on Thursday, dragged a 40-year-old man, Gbadebo Fawole, before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for allegedly obtaining the sum of N10 million by false pretense.
The defendant, whose address was not stated, is standing trial on a two-count charge of obtaining money by false pretense and stealing.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP. Aminu Isaac, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 9, 2025, at Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ikorodu
He alleged that the defendant had forged the document of one Adewale Emporium Company, which he used to fraudulently obtain the sum of N10 million, from one Prince Adebowale Emporium by false pretense.
The defendant was alleged to have stolen the money, adding that he was eventually arrested by the police.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 361 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Magistrate, Mr B. A. Sonuga, granted the defendant bail in the sum of one .million naira with two sureties in like sum.
He ordered that the addresses of the sureties be verified.
The court adjourned the case until April 16, for mention. (NAN)
