A chef, Paul Aloghou, was on Thursday docked in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court in Abuja, for allegedly stealing his employer’s clothes, jewelry and foreign currency.
The police charged Aloghu, who resides in Wuye, Abuja with housebreaking and theft.
The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
The Prosecution Counsel, Charity Nwachukwu told the court that the complainant, Adanna Steinacker of Coral residence Wuye, reported the matter at the Wuye Police Station on April 22.
Nwachukwu informed the court that during police investigation, the defendant confessed he broke into the complainant’s bedroom and metal safe and stole the jewelry and foreign currency worth N9 million .
The prosecution said that the defendant traveled to Lagos but was later apprehended.
She said that the stolen jewelry was recovered from the defendant.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 347 and 287 of the panel code.
The Chief Magistrate, Musa Jobbo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N500,000 with 2 sureties in like sum.
He ordered that one of the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide reliable means of identification.
Jobbo adjourned the matter until July 1 for hearing. (NAN)
