A man, Mr Mohammed Bakar, on Wednesday prayed an Upper Area Court, sitting in Mararaba, Nasarawa to grant him custody of his 10 children.
Bakar, who lives in Masaka, Karu LGA, Nasarawa told the court that his wife, Hauwa, has refused to leave his house and has been threatening his life.
“She planted different charms around the house.
“My wife aided our daughter, Mariam Mohammed, to leave her husband’s house in 2021, and rented a house with her boyfriend for two years at Tudun Fulani while still legally married without his consent,” he said.
Bakar said he pronounced Saki Daya (single divorce) on the grounds that if Hauwa can aid their daughter to behave the way she did, she is capable of harming him.
He alleged that upon being served the single divorce, Hauwa reported the matter at the Emir’s Palace in Keffi, Nasarawa where the Emir’s authority blamed her and advised her to leave according to Islamic rites.
“When she got home from the Emir’s Palace, Hauwa rained insults on him, called me names and prevented me from going out.
“I pronounced Saki Uku (third divorce) on her,” she said.
Hauwa, however, claimed that she cannot leave the house.
“I cannot leave the house because we jointly own the house,” she said.
Bakar is praying the court for an order to vacate Hauwa from his house, custody of the 10 children, and any further order the court deems fit.
The judge, Mohammed Yakubu, adjourned the matter until June 23, for definite hearing.(NAN)
