A Jos Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday sentenced a 22-year-old trader, Zainu Saidu to three years in prison for breaking into a shop and stealing.
The convict pleaded guilty to the charge of theft brought against him by the police.
The Magistrate, Mrs Irene Pati sentenced the convict to one year in prison with an option of fine of N50,000 for shop breaking, and N50,000 or two years for stealing, all to run concurrently.
While reviewing the facts, the Prosecutor, Ijuptil Thiawur told the court that the case was reported on June 13, at the “C” Division Police Station by one Maureen Ndulue, the complainant.
Thiawur said the convict broke into the shop and stole three laptops, one laptop charger, one stabilizer and other smaller devices all valued at N715,000.
He said the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN).
