The newly appointed Commissioner of Transport Edo State, Honourable Saturday Idehen has assured the people of the State that Issues that borders on Traffic congestion within the metropolis will be tackled squarely.
He gave this assurance while fielding questions from newsmen in his office on the plans he has on ground to move the transport ministry forward.
He said the Ministry under him has already embarked on enlightenment campaign to educate the general public on traffic rules and regulations.
According to him, “Our major responsibility is on how to reduce traffic congestion drastically. We are trying to come up with action plans to ensure a free flow of traffic.”
“We have identified major junctions within the metropolis and those areas that their road signs are no longer visible, we will reactivate them so that motorist will no longer have excuses”
“Dropping and picking of passengers at ‘T’ junctions will be highly mitigated against. If there is going to be any thing of such, is should be done 120 meters away from the Junction. We will ensure full implementation of traffic laws and we intend to partner with other agencies like the Federal Road Safety for efficiency” he said.
The Commissioner however promised training and re-training of the State traffic officers to ensure that the general public are served better.
