A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday ordered the remand of a 30-year-old man, Hudu Bala, in Correctional Centre for alleged defilement of a 14-year-old girl.
The defendant, who resides at Sabon Layi Jogana Village, Gezawa Local Government Area of the state, is facing a charge of rape.
The Prosecutor, Mrs. Maryam Jibrin, told the court that the defendant committed the offense on Oct.12, at Sabon Layi Village in Gezawa Local Government Area.
Jibrin said that on the same date at about 4.00 p.m., the defendant deceived and lured the 14-year-old girl into his room situated at Sabon Layi Village and forcefully had unlawful sexual intercourse with her.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecutor, the offense contravened section 283 of the Penal Code.
The Chief Magistrate, Auwal Yusuf-Suleiman, ordered the remand of the defendant in correctional centre.
He adjourned the matter to Dec. 9 for further mention. (NAN).
