Women in Ebonyi on Wednesday held a one-day inter-denominational prayer summit in Abakaliki to seek divine intervention in the current security challenges bedeviling the nation.
The prayer summit was organized by the Office of the Wife of the Governor of Ebonyi, Mrs. Rachel Umahi.
Mrs. Umahi charged the women to be patient, persevere and be prayerful in order to ensure a peaceful and secured home.
Mrs. Umahi who spoke on the topic: ‘The role of mothers to the children and husbands’ emphasized that mothers as wives had great roles and responsibilities to play in ensuring that peace and security prevail in the society.
She noted that absence of peace in the family would ultimately lead to insecurity in the larger society.
She urged women to love, respect and honour their husbands, stressing that when husbands and wives live in peace it would be easier to raise godly children, adding that major problems afflicting the society were due to broken homes.
“Peace in the family is peace in the society. Women have greater role to play in ensuring a peaceful and secured society.
“Women must respect and honour their husbands and teach their children to imbibe good morals.
“There are characters you cannot change but through prayers you can change impossible situations.
“Every marriage is unique in its own way; do not expose the weaknesses of your husbands, rather become prayerful and constantly seek the face of God to change any ugly situation in your families,” Umahi said.
She extolled the contributions of women in peace building and urged the participants to constantly pray for restoration of total peace and security in the country.
Mrs. Uche Umeh, a guest speaker, who emphasized the importance of prayer, urged women to always pray for their children and inculcate good morals in them.
She noted that issues of insecurity could be handled through prayers and urged mothers to rise up to the challenge through fervent prayers.
She said, “It is the duty of mothers to go into prayers to seek divine intervention to security problems bedeviling our country.
“When we pray things will happen; when we pray, we shake the kingdom of darkness, when we pray for our children; they will not be influenced wrongly.
“So, we must rise in prayers to confront the insecurity afflicting the nation, we must become praying mothers and praying wives,” Umeh said.
Other guest speakers included: popular Nollywood actress, Mrs. Ebele-Okaro Onyiuke and Dr. Ngozi Oganinyu who enjoined women to pray always for the peace and security of the country. (NAN)
