The Kebbi Governor, Atiku Bagudu, has approved over N3.8 billion for the construction of access roads and drainages in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of the state.
The approval is contained in a statement signed by Alhaji Mu’azu Dakingari, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, and made available to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Tuesday.
“Gov. Bagudu has approved over N1.531 billion for the construction of access roads and drainages at Bayan Oando and Tipper Garage Areas of Birnin Kebbi LGA.
“The governor has similarly approved over N1.146 billion for the construction of roads and drainages at Unguwan Zabarmawa Area of Birnin Kebbi LGA.
“Furthermore, another over N541 million has been approved for the construction of access roads and drainages at Behind Old C.I.D Office, Malluwa and Rafin Atiku Areas,” the statement said.
It said that the gesture was in furtherance of the policy thrust of Bagudu administration to bring succour to communities through the provision of socio-economic amenities to urban and rural areas of the state.
“The scope of work for the contract include site clearance, earth work, provision of sub-base, prime coat and asphalt, construction of culverts and drainages, stone pitching work and compensation.
“It is worthy of mention that these areas in the state capital receiving facelift are mostly flooded and not motorable during rainy season.
“The projects will ameliorate the difficulties of the people of the areas and provide relief for the inhabitants.
“The governor indicated that additional projects will be approved in due course,” the statement said. (NAN).
