The Head Coach of Academy City Academy, Banjo Adepoju, says they are prepared and ready for the upcoming Aiteo Cup competition.
Adepoju stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Akure.
He said players and officials of the academy have their heads held high, following Wednesday’s Ondo FA Cup final loss in the hands of premier league side, Sunshine Stars FC, which ended 2-1.
According to him, no team has beaten Sunshine Stars to the title in over a decade and his team tried to make another brave attempt, after overcoming Sunshine Stars Team B in the semi-final.
Adepoju said for his boys, the title would have been an incing on the cake of the Aiteo Cup ticket, even as the club hoped to perform better in this year’s competition.
“I was not surprised about the performance of the boys, we held them for as long as we could.
“It is not the first time we are going into the Aiteo Cup, and we hope to perform better than previous seasons,” he said.
He added that the management of the club had also assured that it would continue to sustain the club’s legacy in order “to get the best out of the boys in the nearest future”.
Akure City Academy was playing in the sixth final against Sunshine Stars and had represented the state six times. (NAN)
