In a somber moment for the Yoruba film industry, Chief Adedeji Aderemi, popularly known as Olofa Ina, has passed away at the age of 73. The renowned Yoruba filmmaker and actor, who played a significant role in the contemporary Yoruba theatre scene, left a lasting impact on the industry.

The news of his demise was conveyed by fellow actor Saidi Balogun via his Instagram handle (@SaidiBalogun) on Thursday night. Balogun posted a photo of the late Olofa Ina with a caption that read, “Goodnight legend Chief Deji Akinremi (Olofa Ina) RIP.”

As of the time of reporting, the cause of Chief Adedeji Aderemi’s death remains unknown.

In June 2021, during the sexual assault case involving his colleague Olanrewaju James, popularly known as Baba Ijesha, Olofa Ina expressed the importance of unity among theatre practitioners. He emphasized that despite challenges, the industry should not be divided, as the seasoned professionals who paved the way for the younger generation wouldn’t want to see discord.
